Why Dive Tasmania?

With over 4800km of coastline, Tasmania offers some of the world's most spectacular temperate water diving that is easily accessible by shore. Unique flora and fauna abound, as do a variety species unique to Tasmanian waters.
Here you can spend a morning diving in dense kelp forests watching for seadragons, colonial corals or schooling fish and then spend the afternoon searching for a tasty southern rock lobster or abalone.
Tasmania offers adventure divers the opportunity to explore interesting wrecks such as he S.S. Nord and enjoy underwater sea caves, tunnels and crevasses common along our granite shorelines.
You can dive with the seals, next to dolphins diversand even close to whales. No matter your interest or level, Tasmania has a location to suit all divers .
Water temperatures in Tasmania vary from 15-17 degrees celsius in summer to 11-12 degrees celsius in winter. There's no need to worry about the temperatures however! A thick 5-7mm suit or drysuit will keep you comfortable for the duration of your dive.
Sure, Tasmania does not offer the tropical water diving many travelers seek up north, but it does offer divers a truly unique experience where you can forgo crowded dive boats and sparce reefs. So whether you make 1 dive or many, you won't soon forget the experience!
